Seniors Spring Tea

It might have been snowing today, but we have had a taste of spring and look forward to more with much anticipation!

Monday, March 20th the sun was warm and bright, the sky blue, tulips in the windows, a mixture of pussy willows and fresh bright flowers as centrepieces, paska bread on the tables, song such as How Great Thou Art, Great is Thy Faithfulness, In the Garden and for the Beauty of the Earth were heard - spring was definitely in the air at the Seniors Spring Tea this year!

We were so honoured to have 68 people from our church and community join us for a short program, food and fellowship. Emcee Jenny Dyck stirred up excitement for the season to come by sharing some favourite signs of spring such as Canadian geese honking as they fly back home, birds chirping, motorcycles, dandelions, buds on trees, the appearance of sandals and flip flops and for some people, the mood to spring clean! It is a beautiful reminder of God's faithfulness - spring always comes after winter. We can remember this for our own lives and look for signs that He is working just like we anticipate the signs of spring.

Then it was time for some spring trivia, congregational singing and special numbers by sisters Stacey Reimer and Alyssa Peters. Carol Hiebert, Shirley Unger and Craig Fehr shared a very entertaining skit that had everyone laughing - poor kitty! Pastor Colin Bell closed off the afternoon with a devotional on three things spring reminds us of - life (Eph 2:4-6), waking up (Romans 13:11) and spring cleaning (Psalm 139:23,24).

Many many thanks to all those who helped put the afternoon together. It was a lovely opportunity to minister to our seniors and was thoroughly enjoyed!
